the topic of Black Scientists and Inventors. It contains biographies of
notable black scientists and inventors from the UK, America, the Caribbean
and Africa, questions on the biographies, extra activity based questions,
an answer section, a Timeline of Scientists, Inventors & Inventions,
Glossary and a Bibliography for further reading.

C.J Walker, with the help of family and friends produced Wonderful Hair
Grower, Vegetable Shampoo and Glossine after months of rigorous trials.
She later invented a hot comb.
- When
the cricket season was over Ron worked as a car sales man in the West
Midlands, England. It was during these times that he would work on his
invention, which has now become known as the Ecocharger.
- Woods
also invented the third rail which runs along-side a rail track providing
the trains with electrical power, these inventions are still used today
to communicate and power the trains and tube system up and down many
countries in the world.
- At
the age of 31 Dr. Jemison had the honor of being selected from over
2000 applicants to participate in an astronaut-training program at NASA,
USA. On September 12th 1992, she became the first woman of colour to
go into space aboard the space shuttle Endeavor.
This
book can be used at Key Stages 2 & 3 and to teach Black History to
all ages.
