clear and simple text with a superb array of photographs telling the life
stories of inspiring and important figures from all areas of endeavour.
Sojourner Truth was a black woman whose parents had been captured in Africa
and sold as slaves in America. Sojourner was a slave until she was thirty,
but when she won her freedom she dedicated the rest of her life to speaking
against slavery, racism and inequality. The carefully worded text and
the superb array of illustrations are pitched at just the right level
for young children finding out about the past.
