Black Profiles

A series of 7 exciting books suitable for age range 9-12. This series has been devised by TAMARIND to make role models of success directly accessible to ALL children at school and at home.

These books will bring the early reader close to Black achievers, in a direct and sensitive way. The role models in these profiles are not the lucky few superior beings, but are accessible and ordinary people. The reader will be able to identify with many of the experiences of the protagonists.

Mr Jim Braithwaite - Entrepreneur

Jim grew up in a poor family in inner city Toxteth, in Liverpool. He loved sports, especially rugby and cricket. He was a good student and studied science at university.

He had a successful career in marketing before he set up his own business which earned him millions of pounds.

Told by Verna Wilkins through a series of in depth interviews.
