Black Profiles

A series of 7 exciting books suitable for age range 9-12. This series has been devised by TAMARIND to make role models of success directly accessible to ALL children at school and at home.

These books will bring the early reader close to Black achievers, in a direct and sensitive way. The role models in these profiles are not the lucky few superior beings, but are accessible and ordinary people. The reader will be able to identify with many of the experiences of the protagonists.

Samantha Tross - Surgeon

From childhood, Samantha loved playing with her brother's toys.

Her chosen career, as a surgeon, means that the tools of her trade are saws, nails, chisels...tools normally associated with carpentry.

Samantha is a gifted surgeon, who loves music. She aims to be a consultant in the near future.

Told by Verna Wilkins through a series of in depth interviews.
